Appreciate your Maker

“And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod”. (2 Samuel 6:14)

A linen ephod is s garment usually worn by a priest in Israel as Samuel for example wore this garment. Rather than appearing in his royal apparel, David chose to bless God with this holy garment. Friends, how often do you bless God? How often do you appreciate and bless Him? Do you know there are some problems that will never receive clearance from God until you thank Him.

Maybe you have fasted like John the Baptist, you have prayed like Elijah and you have waited patiently like Job for a miracle, it might be because you have not learnt how to appreciate your maker.

I know a man who gave his baby boy food but the boy refused, so the father tried to feed his son who was not eating and looking malnourished but still he refused the Dad’s food. But for love for his baby boy, he didn’t beat up his son but the father didn’t feed the boy ever again even when his son started eating well and wanted the father to feed him. Friends, in the same vain, God’s commitment to blessing us is guaranteed when we bless and appreciate Him. When you bless God for what He has done, you remind him of what He’s yet to in our lives. When you develop the attitude of thanksgiving, you are most likely to rise early in stardom and gain speed in your enterprise.

When we begin with God in thanksgiving, and give diligence to seek peace with him, we gain his blessings. Are you so unworthy, and your services are so defiled, that all your joy in God is lost because you’re in the valley of delay, pain and setbacks; return today with thanksgiving and He will guide your youth, return folks and be connected with repentance and faith in the Redeemer’s atoning blood. David attended with high expressions of joy. We ought to serve God with our whole body and soul, and with every endowment and power we possess.

Praise God while all is well, praise him when things go a-wire, in everything, give thanks. On this occasion David laid aside his royal robes, and put on a plain linen dress. David prayed with and for the people, and as a prophet, solemnly blessed them in the name of the Lord.

As David danced with all his might, he was evidently strongly excited with religious fervour. Subsequently, it seems to have been rearranged for the temple service, as it is broken up into Psalm 96. and Psalms 105:1-15. Dancing was usually the office of the women (Exodus 15:20; Judges 11:35; Judges 21:21; 1 Samuel 18:6); but men simile took part in it, as Michal’s objection was that it was unbefitting a king. David was girded with a linen ephod. David wore this as a tightly fitting garment, which left him free to exert himself in the dance. Michal was given a blow by God as she died barren because she despised David even in her heart.

How often do you say thank you Jesus even for all His blessings you cannot see?

Prayer Lines: Father, give me a heart of thanksgiving that I may praise you all my days.
