“And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho”. (Joshua 6:25).
Your life is not a function of past events but of future glory that God wants you to see. Looking at the life of Rachab, the first thing about her was that she was a product of incest; little wonder she settled as a prostitute in her youthful age. Friends, that you are a product of fornication, adultery or may be your parents told you, you are the result of an experiment or you were born by mistake. Don’t live in the reflection and shadow of your ugly past for there are better days ahead. Jesus was born in a manager but never remained there. Rachab was found wanting in this area, she settled for to be an harlot because of her ancestral background of incest. You don’t establish your life on the foundation of your faulty family line, you don’t interpret your glorious future by the measure of your ugly past. Jesus is the Beginning and the End, He sees the beginning from the end. Don’t see the beginning of your failures, don’t see the setbacks and limitations of your father’s house but see God using you as a pace setter. Your life is not a function of little beginnings, no matter where you are in life, the best is yet to come for you. The insight of this is what guarantees your glorious future.
The Second thing to learn from Rachab was that as a product of incest she was cursed and banned for 10-generations. This made her to live a life of depression as depression is the emotional result of hopelessness. Folks, are you leaving a life of depression by reason of your ugly past, there is a ray of hope for you for no one whose hope is in God will ever be put to shame. (Psalm 25:3). Forget your regrettable past and only trust in God that he can turn your tide around for he will save you.
Thirdly, she was a woman of faith. She demonstrated this by hiding the two Spies that were sent to Jericho. Now, there is no relationship between light and darkness, believers and unbelievers. She undermined she was an harlot and showed the two Israelis (Spies) favour, she preserved their lives. (Joshua 2:4,6,16). She was a woman full of faith. (Joshua 2:9-13). Beloved, no matter how bad your past may seem that it makes you fear all will never be well with your future, I’ve got good news for you because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrew 13:8), He can decide to erase your ugly past by his mercies so that it will not affect your future. He did it for Rahab, He will do it for you.
Rahab, the harlot all of a sudden became the great grand mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. Her name was included in the genealogy of Jesus. (Matthew 1:5). Her story line changed as she was now reckoned as a Celebrity in Bible history. Do you believe there are better days ahead for you? Don’t allow people write you off, don’t be captivated by the events of failures in your past, only believe the Almighty God has inscribed you in the palm of His hands and He’s got better days ahead for you. (Jeremiah 29:11).
Prayer Lines: Father, take over my life and give me a future that is better than my past in Jesus name.

April 8, 2020 at 4:21 pmQuite inspiring. The grace of God obliterates our past and gives us a new life as a new creation. Grace also superimposes God’s holiness and righteousness on our human frailties and weakness. It changes a sinner like the Blasphemous Saul to a saint and gives him the boldness to cry Abba Father to the same God. There are better days ahead no matter what yesterday or today paints on our faces. When we look unto Jesus, the future becomes a beautiful picture on an heavenly canvas.
