“Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm; for love is strong as death…Many waters can`t quench love, neither can floods drown it”… [Song of Solomon 8:6-7a (WEB)]
As God’s leading couples, love is the answer for a thriving marriage. It’s the spice that makes two hearts beat as one. Friends, are you in love with your spouse or with strangers? The eyes of David desired and had Uriah’s wife 2 Samuel 11:1-27), the eyes of Samson lusted after three strange women no wonder the first thing the philistines (enemy) did to him on his capture was to pluck out his eyes that was always wandering and lusting after strange women. The three women in Samson’s life were Gentiles. The first was the woman from Timnah whom he married, the second was the harlot from Gaza, and the third was the only woman mentioned by name, Delilah, with whom Samson “fell in lustful love.” (Jud 14:1-3, 16:1-4, 21), Solomon’s wisdom became perverted when his heart began to lust after strange women of several complexion, sizes and races so much more as a thousand women. (700 wives and 300 concubines). [1 kings 11:3-4). So I ask you today, are you in love or in lust? Are you in love with your spouse? or in lust with strangers?
Folks, marriage is forever despite appaulling challenges that may seem to crumble it. Jesus loved unto the end and as christian couples we must follow in His steps as Christ loved His own even unto death. This is what God demands from every marital union. Love your spouse to the end no matter the challenge on the way, love her in her flower age- when she radiates beauty and when she exceeds menopause- when suddenly her face is wrinkled. Love your spouse the way they are for God created them in the beginning beautiful and wonderful for He saw and said it was very good. Love him when he’s young, smart and handsome and when he doesn’t match your taste anymore.
Jesus is the secret to keeping the wine in your marriage fresh and sweet. Mary- the mother of Jesus had to recommend Jesus in the marriage in Cana, to renew their wine, when they ran out of wine. As the Father’s love for us is deep and boundless, so does God expects our love for our spouses to be. Are your words so sweet, soul touching and breath taking but devoid of sincerity, care, trust and actions.
Are you single or married? The Lord commands “Do not love in words or talk but in deed and action. (1 John 3:18). Your destiny design as christian couples is therefore to care, to trust, to live in peace, to live and sleep together, to share your lives forever and to live happily in love to the end. This is so because what you owe your spouse daily as you live together under the umbrella of marriage is love. (Rom 13:8), so love each other earnestly from a pure heart. (1 Pet 1:22). Let your children know that Daddy loves Mummy and Mummy loves Daddy, let it be evident to your children and the world that nothing can come between the love you share as couples. Let your love be as strong as death.
Prayer Lines: Father, pour your love on me and let me forever be captured by the love of my spouse.
