Respect -Part 4

“Be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other”. Romans 12:10 (GWT).

In the words of Laurence Sterne, Respect for ourselves guides our morals but respect for others guides our manners. As Christian couples, God demands from us excellence in our relationships and if we must attain this height, respect for our spouse must not be found wanting in our lives. No matter what you are doing, no matter how much you profess to love and show respect to your spouse, God still wants you to excel in respect in the home front in obedience.

Respect is obedience, it’s a boomerang. Any respect you show to your man comes back to you for there’s no man that disregards respect. God has given us the spirit of excellence and expects our devotion as couples to be as that of a family, bonded with mutual respect. Do you know one reason God has bestowed on us the “spirit of the fear of God” is first to honour and respect our spouses. (Isaiah 11:2). Friends, you can’t claim to respect God you have not seen if you do not respect your spouse you can see. The professed love and respect of couples to each other should therefore be sincere, devoid of deceit, unmeaning and deceitful compliments.

Is respect failing in your relationship or marriage today as a woman? Ask God for grace; for a gracious woman gains respect most assuredly from her husband. (Proverbs 11:6). Respect travels down a man’s heart and turns the bright side of him towards you. You can never lose a man you respect. This is one key that opens the heart of love of every man towards their ladies and it’s a secret every woman must apply in their relationship or marriage to drive whoremongers and wolves who are desperate to destroy marriages/relationships by luring their men to sexual immorality. Show your man respect in your attitude, words and actions and in return he would appreciate and respect you.

As a man, has pride dragged your marriage/relationship to the mud, repent today, for pride goeth before a fall. Learn to praise, appreciate, complement and respect your woman; see her as God’s leading lady:

Prayer Lines: Father, by your excellent spirit make me excel in according respect in my relationships
