Commit to Memory: “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.” (Romans 6:12 NLT)
These are some sins that gush out of us and therefore presents us as instruments of unrighteousness and make us not to be used by God for the furtherance of his kingdom agenda. It is for this reason Romans 6:6 CEV says:
“We know that the persons we used to be were nailed to the cross with Jesus. This was done, so our sinful bodies would no longer be the slaves of sin.”
Friends, who are you before God? What is the quality of your relationship with God? The quality of our walk with God is not in our gifts, capacity or charisma but our love for God which must reflect in purity and holiness unto God. This makes holiness a key component if we really desire to be used by God. Jesus attesting of some believers in Sardis who made holiness their watch word in Revelation 3:4 Aramaic rendition said:
“But I have a few names in Sardis, those who have not defiled their garments, and they walk before me in white and they are worthy.”
Beloved, our outcry daily should be to make holiness our lifestyle so that we can be duly used by God and not bring ridicule to his name. This is because only those who wins the victory of holiness will wear white clothes. Their names will not be erased from the book of life because Jesus will tell the Father and his angels that they are his Faithfuls. Hallelujah.
Stop toying with sin. Stop thinking you will always return to God to ask for forgiveness after committing that sin. You may return because of the mercy of God, but because God is Just the consequence may slow down your journey and breakthroughs. Why not cry out to God this morning to make you an instrument of peace where division strives, an instrument of love where hatred is on the rise, an instrument of humility and meekness to bring down the walls of pride and prejudice so that where there is hatred, you will show his love supreme, where there is misunderstanding or misconception we will never judge, where there is blindness, we will pray for sight, where there is darkness, we will shine his light and where there is anger, we will refuse to speak unadvisedly. May the Lord do his strange work and acts in our lives that we may see ourselves the way we really are in Jesus’ name.
Reflection: At new birth we receive the life of God, but in service God receives our lives because we lose our lives and become lost in His will.
Prayer Lines: Father, work on every weakness in my life that will deter me from been an instrument of righteousness solely to you.
