Commit to Memory: “I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.” (1 Corinthians 7:35 NLT)
Life is full of distractions here and there and the truth is that the enemy usually will use distractions to deny us from God’s best and maximizing our innate potentials. Distraction in this light is anything that takes your attention from things of eternal value for the mundane things of this world. Whatever it is that prevents you from doing those things that should rightfully be done is a distraction. I mean whatever causes you to remove your focus from the things of God is a distraction so it is a tool satan uses to draw Christians away from God’s agenda and purpose for our lives.
Aside people, other things which easily distract Christians are fear, lust and the like. Fear distracts and disrupts our journey of faith. It is the opposite of faith, and a tool the devil uses to distract and destroy many people. That is why time and again the Bible says “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God…” (Isa. 41: 10).
Lust is a sinful desire. There is the lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes (1 John 2: 16). So many lustful activities in the world today have caused many Christians to derail from the path of righteousness (James 1: 13 – 15). Like Esau, many are distracted by food (Gen. 25: 19-36). Like Solomon, many are distracted by women who turn their hearts away from God (1 Kings 11: 1-15). Like Judas Iscariot, many are distracted by money and on the long run pierced themselves with many sorrows. So friends do whatever you can to keep you from distractions and I pray the Lord will make you far above distractions of any and every kind in Jesus name.
Reflection: Distraction keeps your dreams small, keep it far from you when it appears in negative lights…
Prayer Lines: Father, fill me to overflowing with your Holy Spirit that I may walk and be led by you always.
