Speak the Word Only

Commit to Memory: “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” (Matthew 8:8 KJV)

Often times we are faced with circumstances beyond our control. You may be down and feeling depressed of several unpleasant situations that have lingered in your life for some years now.

Look at the Centurion’s approach to solving problems in today’s commit to memory. This high ranking solider was different. Though he was the top man in the area of Capernaum, he was humble, kind, a good governor, generous with his wealth to help his subjects and to support their Jewish religion (Luke 7:5). And he had a servant who he loved so dearly. Now when his servant became sick and was about to die, the centurion couldn’t bear to lose him so he found Jesus and said, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible distress” (Matthew 8:6).I like the way the J.B Philips Bible of Luke 7:6-8 puts it. Look at his confidence and audacity of the Centurion. Listen to his complete confidence and rugged faith in Jesus’ authority:

“Don’t trouble yourself, Sir! I’m not important enough for you to come into my house – I didn’t even think I was fit to come to you in person. Just give the order, please, and my servant will recover. I am used to working under orders, and I have soldiers under me. I can say to one, Go, and he goes, or I can say to another, Come here, and he comes; or I can say to my slave, Do this job, and he does it.”

Friends, the words you speak makes or breaks you. What you say is what you receive and become. Infact, your words at all time should be Faith filled words. This explains why the scriptures admonish us in trying moments to speak right all the time, stop saying how you feel but speaking Faith filled words. How? Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich. When men are cast down, you say for me there is a lifting up. See what Romans 8:28 says:

“All things work together for good to those that love God and are the called according to his divine purpose.”

Beloved, what you acknowledge becomes your experience. You will prevail and get answers to your prayer if you avoid complaining but speak the word only. Why? It’s intentional that all things, not some things are working for your good. Listen, you get the attention of God, any time you say what his word has said especially when your words are in alignment to His words. God responds to the one that knows He is I AM THAT I AM thus He manifests when he finds men that acknowledge, believe and declares his word in faith. Glory to God.

Reflection: Don’t tell God what satan is doing or has done, tell him what His Word says.

Prayer Lines: In the name of Jesus I speak peace to every storm in my life.
