The Weapon of Joy- Part 2

Commit to Memory: “Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me- now let me rejoice.” (Psalm 51:8 NLT).

In today’s commit to memory, the King James Version pictures David’s prayer when He asked that God should make him to hear joy and gladness. What was he saying. David was saying he desired to hear sounds of joy and gladness because for him it was one pain after the other. I pray for you today, in your home, business, ministry, church, finances and even in the life of your children and spouse may you find joy and gladness.

Joy prolongs the life of a man when its sustained by the Holy Spirit. In fact the news in the streets, papers and television of today can make the heart worried, troubled, sick and send men to their early grave. So make up your mind to create a positive joyful atmosphere always. In the midst of pain, stay joyful. It is in such moment we should dwell in his presence, feasting at his table and surrounded by the Shekinah Glory. It’s in such moments His joy like a cloud fills our spirits, souls and bodies. Little wonder James 1:2 NLT says

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.”

Friends, you need joy to see your testimonies and breakthroughs come to pass. What is that peril that has challenged your faith? The Lord will have me tell you this morning: Stay in Joy. Stop complaining, murmuring, passing blame and worrying. Stop seeking the attention of men and start asking, seeking and knocking on heaven’s gate. Why? When Joy is ruling and reigning in your life- depression, sickness and whatever is finding expression in your life that doesn’t look like and is not found in Jesus will be far from your abode. Why? Once there is weeping and complaining, God’s intervention will disappear. Why? It’s human to cry, but spiritual to be joyful in the midst of unpleasant situations. I pray the strength to sustain the Joy of the Lord in every wilderness experience you are presently passing through the Lord will release upon you today in Jesus name.

Reflection: When we anchor our joy to Jesus instead of searching for it in our ills and perils, we will never be disappointed.
