Commit to Memory: “I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man”. (1 Kings 2:2 NLT).
Responsibility means that we “accept the ability to act on our own behalf.” It describes a person who is “legally answerable for his or her conduct or actions.” This is something a whole lot of us shy away from and its becoming a venom in the body of Christ. We believe that by shifting blame to others and making excuses for ourselves and shortcomings, we can put the responsibility of our life’s condition on someone or something else. This has, seems and has been human nature form the beginning.
In Genesis 3:12-14, When God asked Adam why he disobeyed him by eating of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, he didn’t take responsibility for that action and so he passed it to Eve: he said: it is the woman you gave me. And so it went on like that such that when Eve was asked why she also disobeyed by eating the fruit, she said it is the serpent but you know what? The serpent didn’t blame anything or anyone and this made the devil to be able to influence men in the thereafter. Why? Any time you accept and take responsibility, you become powerful and influential. So we see that it is in the frailty of man to play the blame game. Does this define you? Take a clue from Solomon who took the responsibility of leading a great nation like Israel even as a young lad.
A time came in the life of David when he was about to join his ancestors that he called his beloved son – Solomon. He charged him saying “Be a man”. That is be strong, take courage and prove thyself, be a man. How? Take responsibility of all you do, say and all that happens in your reign as king. When you are wrong, say sorry. Don’t play smart. Don’t give excuse as any time you give excuses, you prolong your breakthroughs. Take responsibility for the person you are today and watch the Almighty God provide you with all you ever need to becoming the person He is called you to be. Hallelujah
Reflection: To be a man, you must take responsibility for your attitudes, affections, actions and associations.
Prayer Lines: Dear Lord Jesus, give me the grace to be faithful in all the duties You have entrusted to me this day, fulfilling each with great care and love!
