Still Waters

Commit to Memory: “He leads me beside the still waters…” (Psalm 23:2)

God did not promise us that we wouldn’t face challenges but our joy is that He will be our peace in the midst of the storm. He said in Isaiah 43:2 NLT

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”

It’s amazing he said we need to pass through the water and fire; but the testimony is that we will not be consumed in the heat of the fire or the boisterous storm. As the Lord lives, may He speak Peace to your spirit, and to every heaviness and depression in your life.

“Still waters” are waters that flow very slowly and calmly; in fact they bring much peace and rest to one’s spirit. It is something that brings you to a place of calmness, where you can focus without any distractions.

The Lord wants to lead you to a place of rest, a place of trust, a place of confidence, a place where you rely on Him and focus on Him without anything that will distract you.  He wants to take the “heavy load” and weights off your life and replace it with His everlasting peace and rest.  I pray that in every wilderness you have found yourself, may the Great Shepherd whose presence is an assurance of safety and blessing be your stay and guide and bring you out such that he will make a way for you from unusual quarters.

Reflection: The location of the still waters is known by the Lord and Him alone is able to lead us there.

Prayer Lines

•Father, in every fire and storm be with me and see me through.

•Father, make a way for me where there seems to be no way.
