Commit to Memory: “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” (Romans 8:5 NIV)
If you have ever sat at the bedside of someone who is dying then you would know that deep inside is a yearning to be more than he or she would have ever lived. Deep inside is a desire of where he or she will spend eternity; I mean deep inside is a longing to have left a positive legacy behind.
I like to ask you a question this morning; what is the content of your spiritual life? What value do you place on your spiritual life? No matter who you are, the first price to pay to enter into realms alien to this world; I mean access to a good life is your spiritual life. You wake up in the morning and your are rushing to go out to work. No, first thing first. See what Matthew 6:33 AMPC says:
“But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”
So we see that today’s commit to memory conveys that: if we set our gaze and heart on carnal things, fleshy desires will follow but if we make up our minds to live according to the dictates of the Spirit of God, then our spiritual growth will be beyond limits.
Friends, are you paying little attention to your spiritual life over physical things? The bible says it is vain to wake up in the morning only to eat the bread of sorrow. So friends, pay attention to your spiritual life this year more than before if you want to make a meaning out of life.
Reflection: Proximity is one thing, intimacy is something else.
Prayer Lines: Father, help me to be forever panting and chasing after You.
