Commit to Memory: “If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.” (Job 36:11 NLT)

Abraham believed God, and it was credited for righteousness. God will give you certain instructions at certain times in your life and the truth is that if you will trust God enough to obey, then the rewards will outlast. The cost of disobedience is costly- know that you most assuredly will pay for every act of disobedience according to Job 36:12 KJV

“But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.”

Beloved, what are the areas of your life you are constantly disobeying God? Is it instructions to give to the needy? Repent. Is God telling you to go and serve in a small church where your relevance is needed but you ignore and insist you must worship and serve in an edifice? Repent. Is there a prompting by the Spirit to work for the Lord in his vineyard with your resources, time and giftings? Is it a leading to pay the school fees of someone you don’t know, but you ignore and say I don’t know you why must I help you? God told you to marry that brother, but you have sized him up and you said to yourself- he is not handsome, tall, have a car, a luxurious house, having a high paying job and the like, you forgot that God sees and knows the end from the beginning and can attest that brother will become a great man, but then because of the flashy gifts you are getting from your second suitor you feel confident and ignore the voice of God to say yes to that fellow who seems not to be God’s will for you according to your rating. It is for this reason the scriptures says that the life and future of the upright and obedience is peace (Psalm 37:37-40). I like the way the KJV puts today’s commit to memory. It says:

“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.”

Friends, we see today that two key rewards of anyone that chooses to obey God is Prosperity and Pleasures. You want prosperity of body, soul and spirit? Choose to obey God above man and everything else and watch your life like a film show radiating in prosperity and every kind of pleasure in godliness. Glory to God.

Reflection: Any time you disobey God, you stop his hand from helping you and make his mercy far from your reach.
