Commit to Memory: “How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38 AMPC).
To be an influencer, surround yourself with people of value and watch your life go in the right direction as help of all kinds and manner will not be far from your reach. As relayed in today’s commit to memory, Jesus had a business that kept him fulfilled- it was the business of doing good. Anywhere He went, notwithstanding the circumstance- He was always doing good works and for this course He is saying to you today to start doing greater works right there where you are.
The Bible speaking of the name of Jesus said that “His name shall be called Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins” and believe you me, that is very symbolic as the life of Jesus was a remarkable influence the world is yet to recover from till date. Do people rejoice to be around you because they know that one contact, one minute and one meeting with you is life changing? Does your life bring pain to anyone and everyone around you? Are you a voice or an echo? Are you an Influencer or a Reducer?
The Bible tells us some attributes of influencers. An epitome of this is John the Baptist. He was such an influencer such that people all over the place journeyed to the wilderness in search for solution from John. That was influence at its peak. He impacted them to the extent that he raised disciples who were men of prayer. In Luke 1:14-17 NIV, the Bible says of John the Baptist that:
“He will be a joy and delight.., and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
So we see from here that to be an influencer, you don’t need strong wine or alcohol, you need to start adding value to the life of people around you and beyond you one way or the other. Make it your lifestyle and a dogma. Start with your family, the household of faith to follow and then the society.
Reflection: Stop giving to the world around you when the world within you is crying and begging for your mercy and love.
