Commit to Memory: “Don’t worry about this Philistine, David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!.. But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God!” (1 Samuel 17:32, 34-36 NLT)
Many a times, God’s way of settling His own is to try them with little things and watch if they will be faithful in maximizing such opportunities and moments. For example, if you are given terms and conditions to deliver a job in a week and due to one reason or the other from your end you fail to deliver the job such that you end up delivering the job in two months. As little as it may sound, if there is another opportunity another day or there is the need for recommendation of such a fellow for similar job delivery but of a bigger contract, it is certain that the fellow in question will lose such a job or contract in the thereafter. Why? As a result of failure to maximize a little opportunity, so greater opportunities by default will be withdrawn. It’s just the way it is. It is for this reason Jesus said in Luke 16:10-12 NLT
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?”
According to today’s commit to memory story line, we see that David maximized the opportunity heaven brought his way when he took food to his brothers in battle, on arrival there he saw the philistine and beast of Gath tormenting Israel. All of a sudden, the sleeping giant in him arouse and said I must maximize this moment and make it count. How? I need to stop this man who is a pain to Israel and it ended in victory for David. Infact, victory over Goliath gave him a wife, made him tax free in Israel and orchestrated his exodus to the throne as king of Israel (1 Samuel 17:1-50). I pray that opportunity that will count for your relevance; influence and lifting shall be divinely orchestrated by heaven this season.
Reflection: Your ability to influence and deliver in little things is your access to the throne room. Matter wherever and whoever you are.
