Commit to Memory: “If you wiill willingly obey, you will feast like kings.” (Isaiah 1:19 MSG).
Our obedience to God especially when it comes from a willing heart, gives us confidence to receive His supplies; that is why you must not go outside of obeying Him to get something because you will have to stay outside of God to keep it. The King James Version puts our commit to memory this way:
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
What then are the rewards lined up for those that obey the Lord. Among other rewards, when you make up your mind to obey the Lord absolutely, the Lord will give you long life (Prov.3:1-2, Deut.32:46-47). This could mean that one pitfall of disobedience is to have thy days shortened.
Also when you obey God in all thy ways and at all times, the Lord will cause you to dwell in peace, you will have peace with God and men and then you will begin to have peace of mind such that in the midst of pestilence, lack, trouble, fear, war and whatever pandemic- you will be and live in peace (Psa.119:165, Isa.26:3, Philip.4:6-7). But then most importantly, when you obey God, I mean when you esteem obedience to Him above everything else- you will always have answers to your prayers (1 John 3:22). Could it be that the delay you have experienced all these years and presently limiting your life is as a result of your disobedience to God. See what Samuel said to Saul in 1 Samuel 15:22-23
“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”
Confrontation is one way God uses to correct His children. It may seem unpleasant even to the meek and humble believer but it’s a necessity God used in times past and even now to keep us in track to obey Him. As Christians, we all need a Samuel in our lives, someone who cares more about our obedience to God, our Christian behaviour than our status, image or comfort. Like Samuel to Saul- words like “You have done foolishly” are aching words and venom and thus awakens the sleeping giant of anger. It’s never easy to hear but when it comes from a mentor, a true, trusted and godly friend, your father in faith- you must hear it and take heed so that your obedience to God will be intact. Hallelujah.
Reflection: Your victory is not only based on the finished work of Christ but your willingness to submit to obedience unto the Lord. Great moves of God are activated by little acts of obedience.
Prayer Lines: Father, I am ready to obey you now and always, let my heavens be opened continually.
