Commit to Memory: “Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.” (Psalm 38:22).
Do you know that because man is frail in his nature and ability, the help of God becomes needful for his existence? If we must ascend to the hills of the Lord and prosper in destiny, we must seek the help of God daily as we live. The help of God is the aid of the Almighty sent to solve our problems and then make us a problem solver and the truth of the matter is that we all need help from God every single day of our lives…I need help–you need help. In Psalm 46:1 David said
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
We need help in one area or the other of our lives. You may think or say I don’t need God as I have everything but wait, a time will come when what you place your confidence will fail and then you will know and cry that you need God, but I pray it will not be too late when you realize all you needed and would ever need is God. Thank God, we can come to Him for the help we need and know that He is always available to not only steer us in the right direction, but to provide those things essential to our well-being.
In today’s commit to memory, why would David cry to God in this fashion? What was it that made him say God should make haste to help him? Now, David had sinned against the Lord- so the Lord was far but then he began to plead with God to come to his rescue. The Lord had forsaken him and had stood aloof from his suffering long enough. His sin has caused his enemies to try to wipe him out at this point. But then when he began to cry to the Lord, the Lord saw it was time to save him. He saw he needed help else he will be wiped out. Does this portray your peril, why not cry out to God to make haste to help you today.
Reflection: Any time you resort to Egypt, it’s an attestation you refuse or don’t realize that all you really need is the Help of God…
