Commit to Memory: “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” (1 Peter 5:10 KJV).
God is not aloof to your suffering. How could He be? He knows what it’s like because he came in mortal flesh. He’s the one person who knows how hard life really is and in all of the perils, troubles and sufferings he faced He never sinned, he never gave in to temptation, he never called it quits, he obeyed to the point of death, even death on a cross. He did it for you because you needed a victory you could not win. He was able to overcome because of what he saw. The Bible says “For the joy set before him, he endured the cross.” I pray the Lord will open your eyes to see the weighty glory and victory ahead so you will be able to stand strong in your night seasons of sufferings.
Man was created to live and function from the realm of God no matter the circumstance life presents. It is for this reason today’s commit to memory says the God of all grace who have called us into eternal glory by Jesus Christ. How? After you have suffered a while. The word suffer there is endured. That means you must endure with certain ills, setbacks and perils a while. So what will God do to, for and with you? He said He will make you perfect, establish you, strengthen you, settle you- that’s give you stability. That means you have put up with certain things for a while, put up with poverty, debts, lack, disappointments, sicknesses, pains etc. Listen, it can’t be forever. No sir, no ma, a book has many pages, you can’t stay on a page forever. And then he said He will strengthen you with all kinds of might. Intellectual might, financial might, mental might, spiritual might, physical might etc and then it says He will settle you- that means you are unmovable, you have the delivery of enviable breakthroughs and results. You have gotten to a level where you can no longer go down again. Hallelujah.
1 Peter 4:12-13 says
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
Are you hurting and contemplating suicide under the weight of suffering, I like to remind you that the God of all grace is ready to help you today? Although your life may be full of trouble and disappointing, God is ready and able to pour out grace into your life again and again and even now. Why not turn to Him again today and ask for the grace that you need? He’s the God of all grace! And because he won, when you suffer, you have with you the greatest and most victorious Sufferer the world has ever seen- Jesus. His suffering was not purposeless. So your suffering can’t be purposeless either. There is a purpose God wants you to pass through the waters and fire of affliction. I pray may we draw the lessons to learn in Jesus name.
