Commit to Memory: “Behold I will liken you… to a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches and forest shade”. (Ezekiel 31:3).
Every mother is happy to see her child grow, so it is with God- He derives pleasure in your growth and flourishing. God wants to help you grow. His desire for you is to be stable by showing you how to get roots deep down enough so that you can withstand even the most severe of difficulties. You need to know that being saved does not deliver you from having troubles but God uses challenges to train us and perfect his workings in and through us. Now, in ancient Israel, the Cedar tree is known to be “the king of trees.” This is because of the “firmness of roots”. This explains why the Almighty God likens us to cedar trees.
In today’s commit to memory, God’s perspective of us is that we must grow strong, tall and flourish in all we do. We must labour to be the best in all we do. We must make Him proud in whatever situation we find ourselves and whatever opportunities presents our way. Through it all, His desire is that you and I become the express image of his person. People, cultures or our environments should not change us but rather we must influence the aforementioned. I pray we will be an extension of His love and grace in all we do in Jesus name.
Beloved, as a cedar of Lebanon the Lord likens us to be, we need to stand tall above any and every mountain. We need to get our roots down deep. We may bend but we won’t break. We will weather the storms of life. I like you to reflect on these questions: Are you flourishing? Are you growing and walking daily by the Saviour’s side? Has it been a long time since you have grown in the things of the Spirit? Are you bold and courageous? Are you a blessing to others? Do you turn bitterness when it comes into sweetness? Are your garments spotless and white as snow? Are you a cedar of Lebanon?
Reflection: The growth of a Believer is a function of how deep he or she is rooted in Christ…
