Beware of Worldliness- Part 2

Commit to Memory: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15 KJV)

Life presents us with a whole lot of choices such that any and every one of us must make up our minds to take a decision on the path to go and believe you me, one decision you must take going forward in godliness is to beware of worldliness. By worldliness, I mean anything or everything around us which excludes the Lord Jesus Christ. Worldliness is lust and passion for canal, material and mundane things at the expense of Christ. This explains why the name of Jesus will only work for you when your obedience is complete in God. No wonder the Almighty God said in Hebrews 10:38

“…If anyone draw back, my soul will have no pleasure in him.”

In the words of Aiden Wilson Tozer: “In every Christian’s Heart, there is a cross and a throne, and the Christian is on the throne till he puts himself on the cross; if he refuses the cross, he remains on the throne. Perhaps this is at the bottom of the backsliding and worldliness among Gospel believers today. We want to be saved, but we insist that Christ do all the dying. No cross for us, no dethronement, no dying. We remain king within the little kingdom of man’s soul and wear our tinsel crown with all the pride of a Caesar; but we doom ourselves to shadows and weakness and spiritual sterility.” The song writer got it right when he sang “Good bye world I stay no longer with you, good bye pleasures of sin I stay no longer with you, because I’ve made up my mind to go God’s way for the rest of my life…”

Friends, almost every character of whom we read in the Bible is known for something good or bad; each is associated with some deed of glory and honour, or of shame and dishonour. We need to understand that all of these Truths are for our learning so that we can draw lessons from them to live above this world notwithstanding we are in the world. I pray that the Lord will begin to stir up in you the desire to set thy heart on things above where Christ is seated in Jesus name.

Reflection: When sin looks normal and righteousness strange to you, beware of worldliness…

Prayer Lines: Jesus, help me to live for You day after day, no matter what comes my way.

Indeed! Many believerse have become so comfortable with sins and immorality and God’s words have become so boring. May the Good Lord continue to help us cultivate and keep the confidence we have in Him.

Philippians3:20: “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;”

Philippians 3:10, NLT: “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,”
