Beware of Worldlinesss

Commit to Memory: “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica…” (2 Timothy 4:10 KJV).

Friends, Demas is one of those Biblical characters that we need to be mindful of so we don’t want to end like him and go the way of Balaam who was motivated by greed and lustful desire for wealth by any  means available. Demas had been a man of great privilege, loved and discipled probably by Apostle Paul at Thessalonica. He really was privileged to have worked with Paul but all of a sudden began to draw back and his distraction was lust for the cosmos.

It was so terrible that even Paul couldn’t restore him. Beloved, what has happened and his happening to your secret place devotion with the Lord? What has drifted and taken you away from the presence of God you once loved and cherished? Is it money, women, drugs, power or fame? What has happened to your conscience such that you sin at will and you no longer feel anything or remorse anymore? What has happened to your love for witnessing and Jesus? What has happened to your conscience such that you find joy and feel fulfilled to see people cry and bring them pain. It is for this reason Jesus said in Matthew 16:26 KJV

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Beloved, have you made up your mind to live for Jesus? Will you live for Him and Him alone day after day? Will you obey Him no matter the unpleasant circumstances that come your way? Will you please him at all times? Will you trade Him for money, gold, silver or diamond? Will you trade him for material gain? Demas a faithful follower of Paul, all of a sudden drew back. He began to adopt the world’s standards and consequently he lost the heavenly vision. I mean he lost his first love. The Lord will have me tell you this morning: Beware of Worldliness.

Reflection: Whenever God is pleased with the decisions you take, He activates His grace to perfect all that concerns you.

Prayer Lines: Father, do not let me go back to the world, just keep me burning till I see you in glory.
