Commit to Memory: “And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” (Job 42:10 KJV)
To be an intercession, you need to have a burden for prayers for others. A man without burdens is dead. Burdens in this wise are unrest and a die-hard passion birthed in your spirit man by the Holy Spirit to begin to pray for people, things, situations, societies, nations etc. This is activated by an energy supplied by the Holy Spirit. This explains why at several times in your life, you just discover that you are awake in the middle of the night but because you were not sensitive enough to the Spirit, you went back to sleep. But then what you did not know was that the Holy Spirit was trying to draw you. He wanted you to pray to avert the calamity the enemy had planned ahead for your family, marriage, spouse, job, career, business, church, state or nation and if you had stayed awake to pray then those concerned would have been exempted from the evil projected into the day. I like the way the New Living Translation puts today’s commit to memory. It says:
“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!”
Friends, if you don’t remember anything else remember this based on the Word of God found in the book of Job “bad things can happen to good people”. Stop being shocked when negative and bad things happen. Stop being surprised when you go through tribulations because bad things can happen to good people.
But even though just as we saw that notwithstanding Job tried to do everything right, all of a sudden everything went bad for him. All 10 of his children died, his marriage became miserable, his wife started talking foolishly- she said to Job amidst the storm curse God and die. Job’s health went sour. He became very wretched and poor and then he had sores from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Here was a man who tried to do everything right but everything went wrong for him. So we see that one secret to turn the tide in your favour is to pray and intercede for others and I pray the Lord will strengthen you to be an intercessor in the order of Job in Jesus name.
Reflection: God will not commit anything big to you if you cannot climb on the mountain of intercession.
Prayer Lines: Father, birth in me a burden and heart for intercession in the name of Jesus
