Commit to Memory: “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” (John 15:16 NLT).
Our God is the Immanent and Transcendent One. He never fails and changes! He is before all things and in Him all things consist. What He is today He always was and will always be. Every part of His character is as true today as it was at the beginning of time. What has God promised you? What have you found written concerning you in the pages of scriptures? Listen God will perform and perfect what He has spoken concerning you.
Beloved, the challenges you’re currently facing today may be unbearing and different from the ones of the past, but listen God remains the same. If He did it before for us, He could and will do it again for you today. So in such moments the Lord expects us to remember his goodness, promises and count our blessings. Remembering the goodness of the Lord provokes praise and worship, it builds our faith and gives us confidence that He can do it again (Psalms 103:1-2). When you remember God’s faithfulness you’re able to look forward with trust. Choosing to remember God’s faithfulness will bring hope, instead of frustration, bitterness and despair. Remembering God’s goodness doesn’t mean we ignore the problem; It means we put the emphasis not on man but on God who alone can solve any and every problem. When you remember the goodness of the Lord, it will ease every pain in your heart, give you the courage to keep on and comfort in times of hopelessness. Unfortunately, we are forgetful people! We forget God’s goodness thereby leading to unbelief, impatience such that we no more wait on God’s timing and direction.
But then, to receive what you ask for you must ask in the name of Jesus. Peter used the name of Jesus and it worked for him (Acts3:6, 16:17-18). Friends, we need to know that God is not a man and his ways and thoughts are different from ours. He is not limited and he will not break his word. This means there are conditions he put in place that if we observe them- our desires will be met. Firstly, we must abstain from sin. Run away from every form of unrighteousness, run for your life if you want answers to your prayers. Avoid staying on the fence, abide in Jesus and him alone, let your life bring people to Jesus the way you live your life, help the needy and forgive offenses and offenders to prevent hindrance to your prayers and watch your prayers receive speedy answers and manifestation. Glory to God.
Reflection: If you don’t make the presence of God your habitat, how can you hear and know the mind of God concerning you?
