Commit to Memory: “But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4 AMPC
In Matthew 4:4, while fasting though hungry the Lord Jesus Christ was tempted and presented with food. Why food? Food is one of the key ways the enemy traps men. This explains why the devil tempted Adam also with food. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not fall through food, he knew that a lasting ministry can only span through the weapon of fasting. He fasted and prayed for forty days and forty nights for a ministry that spanned three and a half years. Think about that for a moment. How prepared are you for the results you desire in that business, marriage, ministry, career, family? Etc. This is because the quality of your results is a function of your preparation through fastings.
It’s ridiculous we see people that desire a ministry that will last several decades but yet weak in fastings. They want to command result in the public place but are not known to God in the secret place. No it doesn’t work like that because one of the purpose of fasting is that we come to rely less on food and more on God himself. At this junction, you become separated from sin and the cravings of the flesh such that you become a vessel unto honour separated unto God. And then you become strengthened and empowered to have results almost on all spheres. Halelluyah.
Beloved, do you know that there are problems that will never rise because of fastings that have gone ahead of the results you seek. What are the results that you seek? What is that vision and business you have conceived that will go a long way to solve the problem of unemployment in your immediate environment, fuel it today with fastings and watch the Creator of the universe bring it to pass in the prime of your life.
Reflection: Every time we fast, we are saying with Jesus, Not bread alone- but you Lord. Not bread alone- but more of You Lord.
Prayer Lines: Father, let me find pleasure and joy in seeking you than my necessary food.
