Commit to Memory: “…Am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10 ESV).
Most atimes we do all and worry alot just to please people. We even go ahead to begin to ask about the opinion of friends and others about us. You begin to ask: What do you think of me? Do you like me? Do I fit in? Do I measure up? Am I cool enough? Do you like what I’m doing? Can I be a part of your association? Can we be friends? Do you think I’m doing the right thing? Hope you see in good light? We just want to be liked. The truth is that you are in a class of your own and God wants you to be a reference point for in our differences lies our uniqueness.
In today’s commit to memory, Paul said “if I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” In other words, if you are after pleasing man and bothered about the opinion of man, there is no way you can please God. If you want to obey God, there will be many times when other people will not agree, and they will not understand but misinterpret your actions but in moments like this, we must learn that pleasing God often means disappointing people. If you’re a follower of Jesus, at different points in your life, you’re going to be confronted with opportunities to obey God, or do something easier to win the approval of people.
Friends, don’t let the opinion of others influence you away from your dreams and life’s aspirations. Don’t let what people are saying about you stop you from what you are designed to become. If and only if you stay persistent and courageous to keep creating value any and every where, the very critics that once spoke ill of you will begin to work for your advantage. Increase your skill in what you currently do and be always know whatever you do, people will always have something ill to talk about. I pray may your life be the news of your critics in the name of Jesus.
Reflection: If you are not ready to be criticized for your obedience to God, you are not ready to go far and be used by God.
