Do Something

Commit to Memory: “Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay here until we die? If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.” (2Kings 7:3-4 NIV)

The leper’s in today’s commit to memory said if we stay here we will die, so we must do something. They acted on their faith.  But then why would God use Lepers to spearhead this new move? Why? Because their season of Visitation had come. I pray for you, in every area of life you have been rejected God shall stage your celebration. The stone that the builders rejected shall become the cornerstone. Listen, the Lord specializes in making the last, first; and the first, last. When heaven has marked your life for glory, your past does not disqualify you from your future. May the Lord give you a future that’s better than your past in Jesus name.

In 2 Kings 7, we see the story of four lepers that stayed at the entrance of the city gate during a famine in Samaria. In ancient Israel, anyone who had leprosy was regarded unclean and tagged outcasts secluded from the society as they usually will not permit them to mingle with the rest of the people. These were considered the rejects, tagged for the dungeon, the less privileged, destitute, helpless, downtrodden, handicap, and beggars of the earth. No doubt because of their condition, this explains why they begged for handouts, were mocked, pitied, scorned, insulted and despised.

The Bible says these four lepers stayed at the gate. Why? The gate is the seat of commerce, judicial operation, and the point where major decisions were made. It is a place for spiritual transaction. Nothing went in or out of the city except through the city gate. I am amazed at even though these lepers were afflicted, they stayed at the gate which means they kept their positioning. Many times we leave our posts because of our challenges. These lepers remind us to stay on the wall or at the gate until a word of the Lord comes to shift us. It also teaches us not to operate out of emotions or feelings but to follow the move of the Spirit.

Friends, Faith without works is dead. Fold not your hands, do something, have a mind to work. The lepers knew if they stayed in their current position, death was imminent. So they decided to move out not to the city but to venture in the enemies’ camp. We see as they moved in faith, there was a corresponding action taking place in the spirit. And because they moved, the Lord caused the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots and horses. The sound was so loud and frightening that it caused the Syrians to flee and leave all of their possessions behind: raiment, gold, silver, horses and chariots. For a user of this inspiration may the Lord amplify and magnify your little efforts to make great results in Jesus name.

Reflection: If you have no effort to support your vision, don’t expect God’s provision.

Prayer Lines: Father, in every of my little effort breath on it for greater results in Jesus name.
