Commit to Memory: “But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites…” (Numbers 13:30-32 NLT)
As we go through life, we are presented with a whole lot of ill and negative reports. These reports could be financial, marital, medical, evil etc and they all come from different sources with the agenda of contending with God’s report for our lives. It is for this reason the song writer Ron Kenoly wrote:
“Whose report will you believe, we shall believe the report of the Lord. His report says I am healed, His report says I am filled, His report says I am free, His report says victory.”
And guess what, most a times God’s report doesn’t seem right to our imagination neither is it pleasing to our ears to obey. For example God brought a report to Abraham that his barren wife was going to have a child of promise at a stricken old age. This was a report from the Lord but when Sarah heard this, she laughed. Why? Because she knew by all medical standard and reports that she had passed menopause and based on realities visible to her, her strength definitely can no longer nurse a baby. Infact to her, it was a ridiculous report from the Angel and certainly an unrealistic and impossible report to believe. But it is written in Luke 18:27
“With God nothing is impossible”
Friends, not a thing is impossible with God. He has the final say and he has promised as many that believe in him that he will not leave us comfortless. What he says he will do and what he means and can do he will say. Today’s commit to memory shows the impact of ten of the twelve spies who brought and believed in the negative report in the land and so they were consumed save Caleb and Joshua who were preserved because they refused to be intimidated by the evil report of the remaining ten spies. So don’t let any report that is not in line with God’s word make you lose your sleep, weep, fall, fail, weakened and feel threatened.
Reflection: A whole lot of report from several sources are flooding the news, any and every where, but whose will you believe?
Prayer Lines: Father, give me the grace and courage never to accept any evil report that can plague my life.
