The Power of Association- Part 2

Commit to Memory: “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away”  (Proverbs:4:14-15).

Once upon a time in my home, my wife bought huge quantities of sweet potatoes. She poured some on the potato rack and some on the ground in the store, but after some time when she got to the store she discovered almost all the potatoes on the ground were already rotten because some few that were rotten contaminated the ones that were wholesome; and eventually the whole quantities got bad. This exemplifies what bad company could do to one who flocks with such company and the truth is that you become like the very five people you spend the most time with.

There’s a proverb that says show me your friend and I will tell you who you are. This means if you associate with someone or people who is or are God-fearing; then you will be god fearing, also if you mix up with hooligans and people who have no vision; then your life will go in same direction like that of the people you are attracting to yourself.

Beloved, who is advising you? King Rehoboam had a good father, but refused to follow his footsteps. Rehoboam, who succeeded his father king Solomon received and followed the wrong counsel of his peer group. His foolishness caused him dearly as he lost the credibility of his citizens and eventually lost a larger part of his kingdom to someone who had no royalty in his bloodline. This peril shows what wrong association can cause. Choose wisely your association today.

Reflection: You cannot associate with negative people and expect an overflowing positive life.
