Commit to Memory: “Solomon loved the Lord and followed his father’ David’s instructions…” (1 kings 3:3. CEV)
Yesterday we looked at how our love for God can initiate total deliverance for us. Today, we will look at how our love for God can bring divine lifting and wisdom in the life of a man. We see this outplayed in the life of Solomon.
His heart like David his father kept on daily panting after the Lord. It was strange that a lad will begin to seek God in a way uncommon to men. And the truth is that your love for God is expressed in giving. Why? The proof of genuine and intimate love is expressed by Giving. You can not say you love someone without giving such a fellow something but you can give without loving someone. So we see that Solomon showed how much he loved the Lord by offering sacrifices and burning incense on the high places… This opened the heavens continually for him as we see this at Gibeon, the LORD appeared by night in a dream, and said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
Beloved, how much do you love God? What is the strength of your love for God? What do you have that you hold on to and refuse to give to the Lord? Do you desire lifting on all sides and the wisdom of the ancient then make up your mind to love the Lord wholeheartedly like never before.
Friends there is nothing we have that we have not received. Any time God finds a man who loves him wholeheartedly, not just for material gain or what they can get he usually will pour himself into their need and such a life in the order of Solomon begin to experience divine lifting on every side and an outplay of the manifold wisdom of God.
Reflection: You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.
