Commit to memory: “Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps. (Matthew 25:2-3, NLT)
In today’s commit to memory what separated the foolish from the wise virgins was lack of preparation. Five of the virgins were referred to as foolish for failure to prepare for the eventuality, failure to plan ahead to be ahead. No wonder they missed the bridegroom.
If the foolish virgins had known when the groom was coming, they would have bought more oil. But they were caught off guard. They were not prepared. Because the Lord will come at a time when we do not expect Him, we must always be prepared, always growing in faith and trusting in Him as our Lord and Saviour so that we’ll have eternal life and salvation with Him forever.
Friends, we must not be caught unaware. Because this world is continually changing, it is essential that we also make preparations for our lives even in this world. See what Matthew 25:10 NLT says in this wise
“But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.”
Beloved, I like us to think about our lives now? What has your lack of preparation cost you and your church? Without preparation, it is difficult to become God-pleasing stewards with undeniable results. Stewardship begins by preparing one’s heart, mind, and finances so we can properly honour Christ with our lives and our resources. Our own personal preparation in life will help each of us reach the stewardship potential that God expects from us.
Reflection: If you don’t prepare ahead, there is no way you can be ahead in all your endeavours.
