Commit to Memory: “Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.” (1 Samuel 15:24 NLT)
We see again God said to king Saul destroy all the Amalakites, in other words there must be total elimination of all livestock, men, women, children. In fact the instruction was that he should totally wipe them out, but on the contrary king Saul spared their king and the choicest livestock and robust animals alive. This was incomplete obedience and as far as God was concerned incomplete obedience is Disobedience in the lens of the eyes of God. This brought him rejection as king by God.
In today’s commit to memory, Saul disobeyed God and Samuel because of the people. Adam said it is the woman you gave me that made me disobey you; Saul said it was because of the people that pushed him to disobey the Lord. Saul began to play the blame game like Adam. Who and what is fuelling your disobedience to God. The peril of disobedience made the Lord reject Saul as king and the throne diverted from his lineage. Turn a new leaf today.
We need to know that tears don’t move God, for He is moved by anyone who is obedient to Him. There are messages, warnings, promptings, leadings and instructions God will give to you at certain times and the truth is that we will first want to reason it out logically before we obey God, God is only moved by his word and will ensure it’s fulfilment, that’s why he said heaven and earth will pass away but his word must fulfil the purpose he sent it.
Friends, there is a sent word. How can our brains try to reason out what the Lord is giving us express instruction to do and where to go? In my work with the Lord, I have learnt that my brain is too small to fathom the one who is all seeing, all knowing and all powerful. So therefore where he leads me I will go and when he calls me I will answer, I will not try to be smart and begin to question his directives, instructions and leadership over my life. As the Lord teaches us His ways, may you find grace to obey him at all times.
Reflection: Disobedience is a destroyer. Stop ignoring the Lord’s ways if you want to see His face.
