The Reward of Obedience- Part 2

Commit to Memory: “The Lord said to Abram: Leave your country, your family, and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you… He obeyed and left…” (Genesis 12:1, 4. CEV)

God said to Abraham, live your Father’s house and go to a place I will show you. This was obedience at its peak. The Bible says Abraham looked to a city whose builder was God. And the truth is that this act of complete obedience without considering the fact that he didn’t know where he was headed for purchased Abraham the “Blessing” that every new covenant believer today can enjoy. Look at the seven blessings that God spelt out for father Abraham that obedience brought in Genesis 12:2-3.CEV

“I will bless you and make your descendants into a great nation. You will become famous and be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you, but I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you. Everyone on earth will be blessed because of you.”

The reward of obedience will bring rest and peace round about as shame and destruction shall become the portion of your enemies. Another portrait of obedience is Esther as we see this played out  in the life of Esther, the only niece of Mordecai who was instructed by Mordecai to intervene by reason of her position in the plight of the Jews while reminding her she won’t be left out if she does otherwise despite been the Queen.

Friends, your obedience have nothing to do with age, colour, tribe, race, influence or affluence as seen in Esther who was a poor maiden from a lowly background rather obedience has everything to do with total submission and the fear of God. As we progress we see that Esther finally summoned courage to yield and obey Mordecai even at the expense of her life. This act of obedience brought liberation to the Jews, exposed and destroyed their enemy (Haman) and peace to the reign of Esther as Queen.

The reward of total or complete obedience is that you will have peace within, confidence and boldness to dare unimaginable things for God, freedom from bondages and spiritual elevation. I pray for a regular user of this devotion, may you esteem obedience to God above man at all times.

Reflection: For every test of obedience you pass, there is a spiritual elevation upwards and forward. When you win spiritually, every other area will follow…
