The Rising of Men- Part 2

Commit to Memory: “His master said to him, Well done, you upright (honourable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much. Enter into and share the joy (the delight, the blessedness) which your master enjoys.” (Matthew 25:21 AMPC)

Beloved, it’s interesting that God chose David over his envious brothers and over all the children of Judah and Israel. Why will God find David to lead his people? What was it that God saw that spotted David for the throne? It was faithfulness with little things and small beginnings. This is what took him to the throne and kept him successful during his forty years reign as king.

God firstly saw that David was so committed to tending and caring for Jesse’s sheep such that when a bear and lion came to devour one of his sheep, he left the others and went all the way to kill the bear and lion and then deliver the sheep alive (1 kgs.17:34-37). God took note of this as David’s undivided loyalty to Jesse- his father.

We see again loyalty in David when he had an opportunity to kill king Saul- but he will not, as he still saw king Saul as the Lord’s anointed notwithstanding the Lord has left and rejected him so David will not lift a finger to strike as he even killed a man who slew Saul and thought he was doing David favour with the news of Saul’s death (2 Sam.1:5-16).  Again, David was so jealous for his God that he was ready to challenge any force that ridiculed God like Goliath in his days. See what Psalm 78:70-72 CEV says of David

“The Lord God chose David to be his servant and took him from tending sheep and from caring for lambs. Then God made him the leader of Israel, his own nation. David treated the people fairly and guided them with wisdom.”

We all want to be promoted without moving a finger, we want to soar without an inch, we want to travel to a different country for missions, but are we involved in missions in our own country? We want to be super stars without little beginnings. Friends, if you’re not faithful in little, then what makes you think that you are going to be faithful in great things? Stay true and unwavering always.

Reflection: The payslip visible to God for him to bless men is faithfulness and until you pass this test there is no next level…
