Commit to Memory: “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” (1 John 2:16-17 NLT)
Today there are still people who profess to be Believers who seem to receive the Word but then “the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful” (Matthew 13:22). I pray that the Lord will redirect your path today from every destination that ends in damnation in Jesus name.
In 2 Timothy 4:8 (ESV) Paul speaks of those who love the Lord and this is what he said of them:
“There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award … to all who have loved his appearing”.
Beloved, what Paul was trying to further buttress was the need to say goodbye to the world if really we want to follow Jesus. it is for this reason the song writer said: “Goodbye world, I stay no longer with you, goodbye pleasures of sin, I stay no longer with you because I’ve made up my mind to go God’s way for the rest of my life”. What are the little foxes that is making you turn your back at Jesus today? May the Lord deal with them in your life.
Beloved, this is God’s desire for you. It is His will that your attention, gaze and love must solely be built in and around Him. This is because the Jealousy of God will always contend with whatever that’s living and manifesting in our lives that has taken the place of God and when this happens, the Lord will leave such a fellow notwithstanding he or she was once a Believer. May the Lord give us grace to stand for His interest in all we do and become today and always in Jesus name.
Reflection: You cannot love the world and love the Word (God), make a choice today.
