Commit to Memory: “And also that He [Jesus] might deliver and completely set free all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives.” (Hebrews 2:15 AMPC)

One of the major purpose that necessitated the coming of Christ was to deliver mankind from the grip of satan and restore that which Adam lost in the beginning. Jesus came to set the captives free. It is for this reason Jesus said in Luke 4:18 that one of the reasons He had the Spirit of God dwelling and burning on the inside of him was to “Preach deliverance, the opening of the eyes of the blind and delivering the oppressed”. It says:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free.”

What this means is that the anointing of God upon Jesus and every believer is to do good and deliver as many from every kind of oppression. To be oppressed is a very terrible state. Infact, oppression makes a wise man mad (Eccl.7:7). These captives which are to be set free are prisoners of the devil. Many atimes they are possessed, obsessed, oppressed, depressed, suppressed or stressed by the wiles of satan. They are in satan’s labour camp, being compelled, as slaves to do his bidding. They are in chains of bondage, and there is nothing they can do about it. But thank God there is a God of Deliverance who takes pleasure in our freedom and the good news is that whoever the son of man sets free is free in deed.

Beloved, God’s desire is for everyone of his children to be far from oppression. That is why he gave the disciples and even you once you become born again power over unclean spirits (Matt.10:1). Jesus manifested to destroy the satanic works that plague and obsess the children of God. I pray every area of your life that needs deliverance, Jesus the Deliverer shall step in for your liberty today in the name of Jesus.

Reflection: If you allow the devil to make an abode of your mind, he will have a stronghold on your destiny.

Prayer Lines

•Father, make me free indeed from every satanic activity and manipulation.

•Father, deliver me from every oppression of the devil. Deliver me from financial oppression, physical oppression, spiritual oppression, emotional oppression etc. Deliver me O Lord.
