Commit to Memory: “When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11 NLT)
Friends, God wants you to grow up spiritually. Enough of lukewarmness yesterday, hotness today and coldness tomorrow. It’s for this reason Jesus speaking concerning the Christians in Laodicea said in Revelation 3:15-16 NLT:
“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
What are you doing that has kept you spiritually weak, blind and deaf? That was what happened to Eli the Priest that all of a sudden that God had to substitute him and start dealings and speakings with Samuel in the stead. Is your job to win every argument your definition of spiritual maturity? Are you always fighting constituted authorities? Have you taking up the assignment of the accuser of the Brethren and ministers of God? Is anger reigning and ruling your life? Is your knowledge about God all you heard from your pastor or denomination? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? it is for this reason and many more the Lord is calling us to mature and grow up spiritually.
What then must be visible in our lives for it to be said that we are matured spiritually? Among many things are: When we are not easily provoked, when we are conscious of our words, actions and weigh our intentions, when we are deliberate to grow in the things and language of the spirit, when there are visible proofs of the fruit of the spirit and not just the gifts of the Spirit evident in our lives, when the only thing you now gossip about is Jesus and Jesus alone, when you no longer have any interest and thing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness like lust, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, malice, drunkenness, laziness, pride etc. When these are visible, then you are growing spiritually.
Beloved, the Lord is saying to you today that if you want or say that you are spiritually matured in him, then by all means and at all cost you must wake up to your personal spiritual growth and desist from these things as highlighted and leave childish things.
Reflection: If you remain a babe in Christ, you will end up a spiritual slave.
Prayer Lines:
