Commit to Memory: “Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, Lord, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past.” (Isaiah 63:16 NLT)

There are two kinds of Father that is directing the path and destinies of people all over the earth. The first and only true is the one Jeremiah talked about in Jeremiah 10:10 and was further introduced by Jesus to the disciples in Matt.6:9 when Jesus said “Our Father, which art in heaven”.This is the Father every Believer must approach and cleave to if we must live the abundant life. The second kind of father is a terrible one and that is the devil. Jesus speaking of him in John 8:44. He said:

“Ye are of your father the devil, for his works ye do” 

So anytime you see and call God your Father and on the contrary you manifest the works of the flesh what you are actually doing is that you are mocking God, for how can God be your Father and you don’t manifest his character? You cannot have two Fathers. It is either God is your Father or the devil is your father. It is for this reason the Almighty God said: “If I be your Father, where is my honor?” If He is your Father, where is his love? If you neither honour nor love him, and yet you presumptuously and blasphemously approach him, and say, “Our Father,” when your heart is attached still to sin, and your life is opposed to his law as Spurgeon would say, then He is not and cannot be your Father.

Beloved, who have disowned you? What is it that has made you concluded that there is no help for you in God? What is it that you have done that makes you feel you are beyond pardon and cannot be forgiven by the Almighty God? Listen He is the Father of mercies wearing forgiveness as a crown and I tell you if you would make up your mind to confess your sins to him and engage your heart to approach him with a pure conscience I tell you his mercy will prevail over every evil judgment of satan at the verge of destroying your life. It is for this purpose he said in Isaiah 49:15 that if a nursing mother for any reason forgets to breastfeed her suckling child, if for any reason at all she does, the Almighty and Everlasting Father said he will not forget you. Why? Humans by their nature can be unreliable, disappointing and terrible based on several occasions, they are frail, that is why a mother can have the mind to drop and abandon her neonate child at the market square, river bank or gutter side, but the Father of all flesh is never like that- He is able to sustain you till the very end. Why? He’s got you crafted in the palms of his hands and hides you in the hollow of his wings. I pray as you make up your mind to approach him today, may He become your Provider, Sustainer, Lord and above all your Father by function.

Reflection: Your identity comes from God- the only one who can give you true identity.
