Commit to Memory: “And David said to him: Fear not, for I will surely shew thee mercy for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and I will restore the lands of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat bread at my table always.” (2 Sam.9:7 Douay-Rheims Bible)
In 2 Sam.9:1-7, in verse one David said is there any other person in the house of Saul that I may show him mercy for Jonathan’s sake- a voice was speaking; that was the mercy voice, may it speak for you today. May be you are going through a challenging season that has become an ordeal in your life, is your marriage almost breaking and at the verge of divorce? As the Lord lives, I speak peace by the mercy of God.
The mercy of God is the way out to every mess that can trouble a man. The Bible says God Is plenteous in mercy. What this means is that God is rich in mercy, thus He has more than enough to give to everyone and anyone (Ephesians 2:4); the mercy of God lasts and at the prerogative of the Almighty to give to whomever he pleases, there’s no restrain, and it has no limit (Psalm 136). Mercy is so important that the bible says it was because of the mercy of God that Joseph experienced favour and succeeded in all his endeavours. See what Genesis 39:21 says:
“But the Lord was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”
Beloved, what people said about you should not make you give up on life and is not necessarily what God has said or think about you. Whatever the vicissitudes of life has turned you to does not define what God crafted you to become. Why? God never stops seeing us as valuable and precious, worthy to die for and worthy to live for. People may tell you that you are living a low life but God says you are created in his image after his likeness, but then the mercy of God unlike man never condemns but pardon when it’s at work. I pray today that the voice of mercy will speak in all your concerns.
Reflection: When we get God’s thoughts- we will get God’s ways, when we get God’s ways, we will do God’s will and when we do God’s will- we will see God’s mercies.
