Commit to Memory: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 KJV)
It is true that God owes no man, but know that God is not a Father Christmas- His reward system is based on faithfulness and diligence. Why? The hallmark of service is faithfulness and diligence. Are you wondering why you lack the blessing of God in your life? Check your faithfulness in service to man and God. Are you baffled why your Christian work for God and walk with the Lord lacks evidence? Reflect on your diligence. How do you treat the work God has committed to your hand. Do you do it diligently? Do you do it as unto the Lord? Do you do it for ulterior motives? Do you do it with all your heart? Do you do it faithfully? Do you do it because of money? Do you do it because for your stomach sake? Do you do it with zeal, zest or passion? See what was written about Jesus in Psalm 69:9 and referenced by the disciples of Christ in John 2:17 (Paraphrased)
The zeal (passion) of my father’s business (house) has consumed me.
In other words, Jesus was saying that the zeal for souls, the zeal for his Father’s business has eaten Him up that was why He made this statement in John 9:4 that “I must work the work of Him that sent me why it is day for the night cometh when no one can work. In John 4:34, He said my food is to do the will of my Father and finish it. It was this zeal that Jesus put on as a cloak that moved him to disrupt the condition of things which he saw going on in the temple when the people where buying and selling in the temple (Isaiah 59:17). He said in Luke 19:45-46 NIV
“When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. “It is written,” he said to them, My house will be a house of prayer’; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.”
Friends, faithfulness is required for fitness for reward and service in the kingdom. For if you are not faithful in what belongs to others that have been committed to your hands and care, who will give you your own? Who will establish you? If you fail in this wise, neither satan or man, not even God will reward you handsomely and establish you.
Reflection: God is not just a rewarder of heaven seekers, but a rewarder of diligent seekers. How diligent are you in all you do?
