Commit to Memory: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Eccl 12:13).
Life outside God is meaningless. Everyone of us is God’s masterpiece, He wired us that way. This means that God created you wonderfully and fearfully for Himself and so He desires that your hearts be restless until you find rest in Him. The whole duty of man is categorized by Solomon the Preacher into two; to fear God and to keep his commandments. This means that God wants you to have Him as your basic goal. To know Him and to be known by Him should be your number one goal as a Believer. See what Jeremiah 9:24 says in this wise:
“But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.”
God is daily in a search for men that will seek and fear Him and of course keep his Commandments and the truth is that whenever the Almighty God finds such a person He will pour Himself into their needs. To fear God here means to live a life that brings Him glory, to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable before Him, to detest sin and flee from every appearance of evil. On the other hand, to keep His commandments is to observe living in obedience to God’s will, ways and statutes and to be deliberate in your approach to avoid every appearance of evil and quit sinning deliberately.
For this reason, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Rechab was a prostitute but decided to have God as her number one goal and as a result of that, she was numbered a royalty in the genealogy of Christ (Matt. 1:5). Ruth was a Moabite but the Bible dedicated a whole book because of her quest of making God her first and significant priority. Little wonder her name was numbered in the ancestry of Jesus. Zaccheus decided to seek God as his number one goal as he layed aside his prestige and dignity and for this reason; Jesus visited his home that day and his life never remained the same again.
Friends, the whole duty of man is to seek God and as you set your heart on this matter- the matter that matters most in life, I mean as you see this as the whole duty of man, may the Lord release grace to seek and know Him now and always.
Reflection: If you don’t stand for anything, you will fall for everything. Let God be your number one goal.
Prayer lines: Father, give me grace and strengthen my heart to forever seek You as long as I live.
