Commit to Memory: “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman.” (Job 31:1 NLT).
In today’s commit to memory, what Job was saying was that it had become impossible for him to lust after a woman because he had trained his eyes not to look the second time to whatever could corrupt his eyes and would not edify him and so he took an oath to validate this- that is the day he lust after a woman his eyes should perhaps go blind and this covenant helped him overcome lust as it where. The King James Version puts it this way:
“I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?”
To run for your life means to run away from sin. Why? Sin is a piercing spear that opens a man to all round attack. It was sin that kept the man at the pool of Bethesda for thirty eight years; Jesus with this understanding after healing him said- go and sin no more, else a worse thing befalls him (John 5:14). In other words, we become victims and vulnerable to satanic attacks and manipulation when we begin to toy with sin and accommodate it.
Beloved, sin does not respect your age, race, skin colour, position, status, certificates or even the anointing, it only bows to the fear of God that will cause you to flee- that is to run for your life. Little wonder the Bible says in 1 Thess.3:22
“Flee from every appearance of evil“.
This means have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness, reject every business that will stain your garment, break loose from that bad company that makes you sin against God, that is flee from every evil matter.
You want your destiny to soar, run away from sin, run for your life, run away from every appearance of evil. Jesus said one reason why He kept on shining in glory, walking in power and radiating in light was because His life was X-rayed by satan and there was no trace of sin found dwelling in His mortal bodies and life (John 14:30). Do you desire to be fiery hot for God? Do you want your light to shine brighter? Then come out of sin and don’t waste the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus, turn a new leaf today. Run away from sin, run for your life.
Reflection: Only sin makes you sink, only sin makes you stink, only sin makes you sick- Run for your life.
Prayer Lines: Father, mortify my senses to the things that do not glorify you; make my eyes blind to the things that do not edify and my ears deaf to the things that do not build up in Jesus mighty name.
