The Power of Consistency- Part 3

“The words of Jehonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me.”  (Jeremiah 35:14 KJV).

Consistency is a proof that you are not working by mistake. It is what you do every day, not what you do once in a while. It shows you are guided by principles and values. That is why you must stay focused on what you know how to do best and cease copying and trying to be like someone else.

In our commit to memory today, it’s interesting that Jehonadab commanded his sons not to drink strong wine, and from one generation to another the rechabites were consistent in obedience to the words of their father. They even carried their sons along to keep the words of Jehonadab. They were committed to the words of Jehonadab and never drank wine no matter the circumstance, pressure and the personalities that offered them wine. They were consistent in this wise. Little wonder the Almighty God said in Jeremiah 35:18-19

“And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jehonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you: Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me forever.”

Beloved, what is it your hands have found to do? Give it time, strive for ways to do it well, acquire relevant and sufficient skills to be a master at it. Do your own thing. Break lose from the norm. Start doing things differently, unique and better than the norm. Give it passion, wake up when you’re supposed to, be focused, stay committed to your course, remember it was little drops of water that later became an ocean- that’s the power of consistency. As the Lord lives, may He supply the grace to stay consistent now and always in Jesus name.

Reflection: You achieve success by consistently doing little things that keeps your dreams and aspirations progressive.

Prayer Lines: Father, help me to be consistent in doing the things that matters to your heart, will and ways.
