Intimacy with God- Part 3

Commit to Memory: “…I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord. And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.” Jeremiah 30:21-22 KJV

God doesn’t just want to get you on the right path of destiny; He wants to enjoy you throughout the journey of life and so he longs for uninterrupted intimacy.

Do you desire to be fiery and be a battle axe in the hands of the Almighty? Do you seek for power and fire to silence the kingdom of darkness? Do you desire your words to be backed with power to influence others and situations? Then you must get intimate with God. How? You must intentionally build a relationship with God, you must make up your mind to raise an altar of prayer in the secret place and return to retreat in your prayer closet. This is because the secret to staying relevant in God’s agenda is to cultivate a mutual and intimate relationship with the Lord. In Psalm 86:11, David prayed saying

“Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name”.

By praying, “Unite my heart,” David was saying, “Lord, give me an undivided heart, a single focus that sees only You as the sovereign power to be feared and worshiped.” He was simply saying give me a heart that pants after you. A heart of love ever longing for the Lord. He really was burning in his prayer altar, no wonder he wrote a lot of psalms and spiritual songs we sing today. The Almighty God wants to be known! But then,t He desires that from that knowing relationship there comes a tender walking together in His ways and purpose.

Beloved, the confidence and joy to staying rapturable at the coming of the Lord and the key to staying ablaze for Jesus is far from altar calls as good as it may sound, it is not about someone ordaining or imparting you with spiritual gifts even though this is valid, it is not even in listening to soul lifting songs and messages. But one key stands tall- it is your secret place devotion to God, I mean your personal relationship with Jesus. Little wonder John Wesley said “Get on fire for God with passion and the world will watch you burn”. What this means is that you must take your personal relationship with the Lord serious more than ever before and if you don’t have one, build one today.

Reflection: God’s main desire for your life is not just that you discover His will and walk in it; but that you draw near to Him and come to know Him.

Prayer Line
