The Rewards for Obedience

Commit to Memory:  “Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.”  (Psalms 19:9-11 NLT).

One major factor why it seems God’s reward system is missing in the life of His children is consequent to disobedience. The reward God promises for your obedience is to be enjoyed here and now, not only in eternity. Little wonder Jesus said in Mark 10:29-30

“Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property- along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”

Beloved, do you esteem obedience to God above everything else? Here we see David emphasizing on the fact that if we obey God wholeheartedly and always, there is a reward. Not just a reward, but a great reward for those who obey God’s instructions.”

Obedience is an important thing before the Lord and it starts with little things that God tells you every time ‘T’ and moment ‘M’. God can tell you to stop wearing a particular dress that you admire so much to always wear and instead of obeying, you say well there is nothing wrong- God sees my heart that my motive is right, but then if you wear it, what you have just done is that you have just disobeyed God and as little as this may sound will strip you of the rewards of total obedience to God.

Today’s commit to memory speaks of a reward of obedience that the Almighty promises to give to all. You may not like the warnings, instructions, persuasions and commands the Lord will be passing to you as we progress in time- using His word, people or situations but if you make up your mind to trust and obey God and His judgement on such matters, the Lord will reward you with favours untold. So Obedience is key if we must eat the good of the land. May the Lord give us the grace and will power to submit to whatever he tells us and would have us do now and always. Amen.

Reflection: When you seek to obey the Lord above everything else and at all times, most assuredly He will reward you handsomely for He owes no man.

Prayer Lines: Father, make me willing and obedient to your instructions that I may eat the good in the land you have placed me.
