Commit to Memory: “Beloved we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who thus hopes in Him purifies himself as He is pure” (1 John 3:2-3).
The return of Christ is the hope of every Christian. Will you be ready when He comes? That is why you must not be discouraged or disappointed by the Christian walk of other Believers and especially those mentors or fathers in faith who draw back. What we need to do when we observe this is to stop following such a leader or mentor. Little wonder the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:19
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable”.
it is only the Lord that knows those that are following Him wholeheartedly and sincerely. Some name the name of Christ because of titles or positions, some seek him for material possessions, some for fame, others for power, some because of their stomach and others they see God as a means to an end. But the word of God is instructive concerning this- if you desire the return of Jesus and you want to make it to go with him then turn a new leaf towards righteousness and a life pleasing and acceptable to and before the Lord.
What then must I do to return with Him when he comes? Among many other things is to be Born again (John 3:3-5), live a holy life (Heb.1:9), obey God and keep His words. How? Let the word of God dwell in you richly so as to guide and guard you always, also be faithful in your Christian walk with God, serve the Lord heartily, stop accusing the brethren for there is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus for God didn’t take you this far to judge others before the appointed time, give especially to the household of faith, support missions and kingdom work, don’t be the one through which offences comes, love uncompromisingly, Give generously, correct in love at all times and in every situation, submit to authorities, honour your parents- biological and spiritual, witness to the lost, silence the gate of hell etc.
Apostle Paul said Demas has forsaken me having loved this present world (2 Tim.4:10). If we love the world, the love of the Father cannot abide in us and it will be difficult to return with Christ when He comes. May the Lord preserve us for His coming in Jesus name.
Reflection: Jesus bore our hell on Calvary tree so that we wouldn’t have to. Make your life count to Him.
Prayer Lines
•Father, my hope and trust is in you, give me the grace to live in purity till you return.
•Father, my focus is you, don’t let me be distracted from following you to the end.
