Commit to Memory: “And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1 KJV
When God remembers a man, testimonies become the order of the day. How? When the Lord is about to do something amazing and great, He starts with a difficulty. When He is about to do something truly magnificent, He starts with an impossibility. Are you facing difficulties today? Are you weighed down with prolonged delays all these years? Are you overwhelmed with problems? Are you confronted with streams of impossibilities? Look unto God- He is the author and finisher of your faith, so take courage for God is setting you up for a big testimony that will settle you for the rest of your life.
In our commit to memory today, we see David a type of God, despite all the sins and pains king Saul caused and plagued him, David chosed not to pass it on Mephibosheth- Saul’s grandson who for once David could view as a treat to his throne and reign, but he decided to remember him for good for the sake of Jonathan- his friend. He said you will sit with me at my table and palace till death. David’s words were not just a token gesture; they were extravagant – symbolic of his love for Jonathan. His words were an act of grace – symbolic of God’s love for David. It was a demonstration of love towards a man who did not deserve it and could never earn it and would never be able to repay it. David reached out to Mephibosheth, the cripple and outcast, and expressed kindness to him like he had never known before. it was a quantum leap, from Lodebar to Laughter, from shame to fame and from been forgotten to remembrance. Halelluyah. See how God visited Sarah in Gen.21:1 JPS Tanakh 1917:
“And the LORD remembered Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as He had spoken.”
Do you feel like an outcast and never experienced the feeling of acceptance but rejection in all you do and wherever you go? Do you desire the joy of being drawn into the family of God? Do you crave for the arms and warmth of God’s love? Do you long for the contentment and satisfaction that comes when someone cares. Jesus cares and by his mercy, may He remember you for good today.
Reflection: Your day and your chance to become a ‘’better you’’ will come, when God remembers you.
Prayer Lines: Father, remember me like David and bring me out from every dungeon today.
