Commit to Memory: Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 NABS.
Discernment is the process of determining the will and desire of the Lord in every situation of the life of a believer. It is simply what Jesus will do in every situation or circumstance. It is that spiritual perception that alerts the mind of a Believer while walking in the Spirit thus resulting in accuracy per time making the believer to be instructed or directed and led by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Beloved, when this gift begin to operate in your life, without much persuasions or contemplation; you begin to hear and access precise and classified information such that you are able to make right decisions; between truth and error, right and wrong, original and fake, divine presence and satanic atmospheres etc. It is a requirement for the new covenant believer if you want to operate in the realms of power and be led by God’s Spirit at every moment, M and time, T. For a user of this inspiration, as you long for this gift; may the Lord by his Spirit release it to you today in the name of Jesus. An epitome of the need for discernment is portrayed in John 6:5-6 NLT
”Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.”
Here, Jesus was not asking for directive or seeking counsel with Philip because he perceived any doubt about his line of action, or needed help from his disciple. His thought line and pattern was second to none in accuracy- He just knew what to. Do you know what to do? Are you at a cross road of indecision? Do you know that one decision in the flesh can cause a costly mistake that could marr you from bliss and derail you from the narrow path? Do you know that your ability to discern on who to marry or the right course to study for instance would have saved you some ills and perils directing your destiny to be fast tracked on the right path.
Friends, as relayed in our commit to memory today; test everything that is said and cling to spiritual perception. 1 John 4:1 expressed it this way “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; this is because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” Prevention is better than cure, as the ability to discern is a preventive approach to a glorious life. May the Lord lead and guide us in truth and judgement as we walk and live in the Spirit.
Reflection: Discernment is indispensable to an uncompromising glorious life as it will prevent errors, costly mistakes and troubles.
Prayer Lines: Father, sharpen the gift of discernment in my life that I may see, hear, think, feel, do and act like Jesus in all situations.
