“So they are no longer two, but one flesh”… (Matthew 19:6a. NIV)
Marriage by God’s design is the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:18). It is the joining of flesh that makes the marriage (Genesis 2:24). In the mind of God, He sees every couple as one that is why every couple must live in unity and peace with one another so as to avoid hindrance to prayers, the accuser of the brethren and to aid quick delivery of testimonies and the manifestation of agreement prayers offered by the couples. Friends, are you married? Then stop doing things alone, stop praying alone when God has given you an helper as yours spouse, stop doing things your way and start doing things together in agreement in God’s way. If we must toe the steps of Jesus and if our marriage must set an example to all, we must as christians couples live as one.
Scriptures teaches that one way a believing wife can win her unbelieving husband (who is a potential treat to marital failure) is through her right and good attitude to him, love, respect and by consistent uttering of pleasant words; she will win him over. Do you want your marriage admired? Do you desire God to be pleased with your marriage? Do you long for a mental registration in the heart of your spouse that you are a good husband or wife and in the heart of your children that you’re a good father or loving mother? Then you must reflect love in your home, you must not treat your spouse or children with disdain but love for the best way to show you love is to show care genuinely and consistently. Wherever you live and whatever you do, you must refrain from been tagged or known as always quarrelling, fighting or irresponsible couples and most assuredly you must live in oneness.
Beloved, let your spouse be your last bus stop in conjugal duties, your union is sacred and honourable- dont extend it to others. Anyone you allow or trespass this boundary is a thief and that way our life and marriage fails the original divine plan. Do you struggle to assist your wife with household chores? Do you find it forbidden to call your spouse by pet names? Do you really care for your spouse or children? Have you ever given out your last money to salvage the better future and joy of your spouse or children? Do you harden your heart to the material, emotional and financial needs of your spouse, children and home? Do you really love and care for your own (spouse and family)? Do you work tirelessly towards the provision, joy and peace of your home? Can your relationship or marriage reflect “the Beginning” – the way marriage was supposed to be? Can men follow you as they followed Paul and Christ knowing that as they do, they will not regret? Can they see the reflection of Christ in your marriage? Can your marriage be worth admiring by fellow christians, unbelievers, muslims and idolaters? Friends, if you see your spouse as one with you, if our marriage must be in the steps of Jesus, then we must answer these questions truthfully.
Prayer Lines: Father, give me a Christian home, help my weakness that my marriage may make heaven glad.
