MARRIAGE IN THE STEPS OF JESUS

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35. NIV)

Making your marriage worth admiring is following the divine plan; walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Jesus never for once followed the crowd, instead the crowd was always following Him. So stop following the simile easy way-out and pleasant patterns of others and styles of the world system, stop following the crowd, let the crowd follow you. (Matt. 20:29, Jn. 6:2).

Greatness starts within but becomes recognised when it affects others. It’s about positively touching lives in many ways. You are not great until you start influencing your neighbour’s life positively beginning with your own very spouse and family. One way you show God you are grateful for the life He has given you is the way you treat others, most especially your husband or wife. The test of marital maturity is the ability to foresee and recognise a marital crisis and problem before it becomes an emergency beyond approach. So as God’s leading couple, you must give your best to ensure your union works for its your responsibility to make it work.

In the scriptural context above, what Jesus typified was that our marriage is a pointer of the Christ within us we profess or a reflection of the world around us based on love, as the foundation of the world is built on love; so make up your mind that come what may, you are not parking out of your marriage or calling it quit, see to it you over look the weaknesses, work on the flaws and exalt the strengths of your spouse, no matter the crisis do not think of divorce, forget the option of separation and single parenting if you already have issues that seem to bind you together. Your will and desire should be “by all means, this marriage must work so help me God” your obligation is to love, to love and to love. For whatever was not so in the beginning is not permitted in your home or marriage so in the light of this see to it your marriage follows the footsteps of Jesus.

Friends, the greatest force that reigns in divinity and governs humanity is love, for by love all things consist, the world began, forgiveness is shown and by love our relationships can be and remain healthy.
