Keep the wine fresh – Part 1

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8. NIV)

In the words of Friedrich Nietzsche, it’s not lack of love but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriage. Are you married? then you are mandated by God to love your spouse. You are responsible for love one to another as long as you are bonded in marital union by God. By Divine order, you have a mandate to keep the wine sweet and fresh in your marriage as your marriage is a pointer of the Christ you profess to the world.

Love in your actions, love in truth. You must cultivate the attitude of charity, learn to be a friend first to your spouse, do all you can to know all about the one you see as a life partner if you’re single, and the one you call your spouse if you’re married. Let love spice your marriage sweet, let there be the smell of honey again and let the wine be refreshed with love. Is love failing or fading in your relationship or marriage today? Then open up your arms of love, get consumed by love. What flows in humanity is blood but what flows in God is love, God does not have love for God is love. So to be like God, you must love to the end like Jesus. When He was faced with so great our burdens said ” Father let this cross pass over me but not my will but thine”. Jesus was saying despite all the pains, troubles and sorrow he saw he would still want to love his own unto the end because of the bonding love of His Father in Him.

Friends, do you desire to keep the wine fresh unto the end in your marital journey, then you must love like God in every situation, you must love unto the end, your love must reflect in overlooking the weaknesses of your spouse while exalting their strengths, learn to be open to your spouse at all times in every situation, tell him/her things you’ve never shared with anyone, let your spouse be your secret, share your hopes and dreams of the future with each other.

God wants us to explore love in our relationships. Are you in love with your spouse? Then you must stay away from strangers, you must forgive his/her short comings as love prospers when a fault is forgiven. (Prov 17:9. NLT). Let love refresh your marriage today.

Prayer Lines: Father, sweeten my relationship with my spouse with the love that will last to the end.
